Dua of Prophet Adam

Translation:

Rabbana zalamna anfusana wa in lam taghfir lana wa tarhamna lanakunanna minal khasireen

“Our Lord, we have wronged ourselves. If You do not forgive us and have mercy upon us, we will surely be among the losers.”

The Prophet’s Duʿa

This was the first recorded dua of Prophet Adam (AS) and Hawwa (AS) after their descent from Jannah. It is a confession of human weakness and a plea for Allah’s forgiveness and mercy. This dua carries the essence of repentance — recognising our mistakes, turning to Allah, and hoping for His boundless mercy.

The Colours & Story

The calligraphy is written in gold, symbolising divine mercy and the eternal hope of forgiveness. The arched ornamental frame in earthy brown and adorned with floral designs in pink and green represents both human frailty and the blossoming of hope when forgiveness is sought. The arch shape symbolises a doorway — a return to Allah after sin.

Reflection & Emphasis on the Dua

This dua belongs to every believer who stumbles, reminding us that repentance is never closed. It is a timeless call: admitting our faults, seeking forgiveness, and finding mercy in Allah alone.
